Owners Event in Nov: Hiking @ Akame-shijyuhachi-taki (赤目四十滝)

For the owner's event in Novermber, we went hiking in Mie. There were many waterfalls and great nature with red-yellow leaves. It was the perfect day =)

Everyone looks happy!
Let's see again at the end if they still look happy or tired lol
Someone is trying to put a stamp on a passport......
And this Cuau found a creature from his home country.
Mexican creature is taken photo by a Mexican guy.

We were welcomed by a cow, I forgot why there was a cow though.

As we go hiking, there were many waterfalls, red-yellow leaves, and huge rocks!
Besides, the air was so fresh and really it was the best weather for hiking.

Christine always wants to take a different route. hahaha active girl.

And finally lunch time! Sayo prepared it for everone, (I also made rice balls).
It was all delicious and we ate everything.

Please enjoy the beautiful waterfalls.

This is when we got to the waterfall, the nearest from the peak.
Everyone is still smiling =)

And we all came back safe.
Aaron and Christine never looks tired.
Whereas, Sayo and Cuau looked very tired when we reached the bottom.
Anyhow, it was a great day and hope everyone enjoyed the nature.

2 guests from UK: We had so much fun with you!

During the summer, we had 2 guests from UK and they were so fun to be with. Oli, who likes to show off jokes which he learned from the school. しょうがない! And Roger, who is into Karate and understands quite a bit about "Japanese-ness".

One day, we did Hanabi in front of our house!
In this picture, Oli looks huge, but he is actually HUGE!
Like 190cm tall? He eats a lot, exercise a lot, talk a lot, and he is fun!
Roger likes to make funny faces when taking photo, but when he is with his girl friend, he is so gentleman! hahaha =)

One day, we went to 回転寿司. As usual, Oli eats a lot and Roger makes funny face lol
We also tried cooking たこ焼き. Look at Roger's face!See? He is so serious when he is with his girl friend right? hehehe just kidding, he was cooking seriously =)

After 3 months of their stay, we found a letter hidden in a closet. We have accepted many guests, but this is the first time receiving this kind of Thank you letter.

Thank you, Oli & Roger, we had so much fun with you and looking forward to seeing you again. Oli, are you really coming back next year? We are waiting for you!

Guests from Hong Kong, Spain, Singapore

Recently, we have had several guests from three different countries, they were all nice and we enjoyed spending time with them.

She is Becky from Hong Kong who stays in South Korea to study Korean. She and I happened to be studied at the same university, small world!
Too bad, she only stayed for a few days as she just needed to renew the visa for staying in Korea. Becky, you are always welcomed to come back to Osaka!

Second guests are from Spain.
They are both policemen, no wonder they look very strong =)
Though they only stayed for a few days, we shared dinner and enjoyed talking.

The last guests are from Singapore. They are fixing the fusuma because the younger brother accidentally made a hole.

After cutting the damaged part, put glue onto the frame and attaching the paper.

Within a month, my wife and I are going to visit Singapore, so see you soon!

In-house Bartender: Aki

The other day, Aki (one of our guests staying for a long time) made cocktail for my wife and I.
He has been wondering a few day labor jobs and we kept telling him to get a stable job. One day, I kind of scolded him to be serious and start living like a man. (Well, I am not in such position or status to tell him such a thing, but I felt it was necessary for him)
So he thought of what job suits him, and he realized that he should find some jobs related to what he likes, which is alcohol. So now, he is working at a bar in Shinsai-bashi almost everyday.
He is not yet working as a bartender, but he is quite serious about it. So here is the cocktail he made for us =)

He already looks some what like a real bartender, and he made a special drink for me. It is called Blue Lady.
He said to me, it is the most suitable drink for you Shunji san. Because you like girls and this drink means a beautiful woman...lol

Yeah, I must admit it is the best drink for me.
He will be with us at least until this March. If you like to try his special drinks, let me know and visit us!!!

Happy birthday Katharina!

Well, as you all well know Katharina is a professional shoji repairer.
And while she was with us, it was her birthday and we celebrated together.
First, we went to 居酒屋(Japanese style restaurant bar) to have dinner.
Look how happy they are!!!

After coming back home, we had a cake together. A chocolate cake. umm tasty.

That was the last day of her stay, and she had to leave on the next day.
In the morning, she left AM5:00 to catch a flight!
So I had to wake up and lock the door after she left.
On that day, I was sooo sleepy all day...lol

Katharina, we had so much fun spending time with you.
Looking forward to seeing you again!

Professional 障子 repairer from Austria???

Because the shoji (paper sliding door) is broken, we called a professional repairer from Austria.

This is the shoji needs to be repaired.
Someone teared the paper and there is a big hole.
I wonder who did it.....

I reckon, it was a talk guy who speaks Japanese and English fluently.
His age is in end of 20s and working at a world wide air conditioning company... Guess who!!! lol

And here is the repairer! Well, actually she is a new guest homestaying at our house from last week. Her name is Katharina, very kind and happy girl.

So here is the procedure on how to repair shoji.
First, we the paper along with the wooden frame and tear all the paper.

When all the papers are gone, clean the frame with wet towel.

When the frame is dried, put glue on the frame
and at last put the paper on top of it
Wait until all the glue are dried, maybe 20 mins.

After that, you need to cut the extra parts with cutter.
Make sure you wait until all the parts are dried.
Otherwise you will ruin your master piece.

And here is the completed shoji, nice and clean right!
Only with the help of her, I could not have done it. Because it was my first time repairing the shoji too! hahaha
