My English teacher's birthday

As I want to brush up my English to the level that I feel confident doing business with non-Japanese workers, I started to take English lesson offered at my company. Also I took TOEIC to see my current level, because it has already been a few years since I took last. And I got the result! I feared my score has gotten much lower but, actually it did not change at all.

Anyway, a few days ago when I had an English lesson, my colleagues and I celebrated our teacher's birthday, with Korean style. The guy on the right is Sangyeon (sorry if I miss spell your name) and the left is Ayuko. According to him, this is a typical Korean way of celebrating one's birthday but honestly we were shocked to see this improvised cake. Basically we put stick-shaped sweet on top of soft cookie just like below. Look at Ayuko, she is enjoying sticking them on to the cookies.

 

But what happens after this is... looks terrible.

And Ayuko also looks worried what to do with this.

I did not know how to react to this happening so I just froze and kept shooting photos... hahaha
But you know what? It actually tastes better than it looks!

After all, we enjoyed the time and the special Korean style birthday cake!

Accepting Homestay guest 365days.

I have been posting different kinds of stuff, but lets get back to the original purpose that is to advertise my homestay program!

Whether short stay of long stay, we are accepting homestay guests and provide them with accommodation, foods and comfort for 365 days. We love to interact with variety of people from all around the world, and help foreigners to travel with comfort while in Osaka.

For short stay (less than a month), it cost 3,000yen / day for a private room.
For long stay (more than a month), it cost 50,000yen / month for a private room.
Both plan includes simple breakfast, free wifi, shared bathroom & kitchen.

By the way, I am growing vegetables in my backyard. If you are lucky, you will get to eat these fresh vegetables for dinner.

Dinner time!

Recently it is difficult for all of four to have dinner together, as Aki and Tyrone are having baito and their shift is quite different. The other day, we finally got to dine together and here is the photo!

It looks quite simple, but it tastes really good!

Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day in Japan, I am not sure if it is applicable in foreign countries though.
Anyway, one of our guests staying with us now made a dish for dinner. It was supposed to be a surprise, but my wife found out about it just before the dinner!!!
Although she was very moved by him, but kept insisting "I am not a mother, call me a sister!"

Here is the dish Tyrone made, it was very delicious and so nice of him!

水耕栽培、進捗

水耕栽培ですが。。。
ぼちぼち上手く行ってるのかな？

サニーレタス。徐々に赤みがかってきてるのがあり、
特に害虫被害も無く、にょきにょき。

ただ、もうひとつのチマサンチュは、なぜか青虫君に食べられたりして、ちょっと微妙。野菜にも使える農薬とか使ったりしてるけど、なかなか上手いこといかないのよね。

まぁ、そんなことにはめげませんが。

だって、せっかくやってるんだから、４人分のサラダは頻繁に確保出来るレベルまでもっていきたいし。いろんな方法を試して、上手くいったやつで、大量栽培したる！ｗ


で、実はトマトも初めてみたり。 ちょっと新しい方法で。
これもネットで見つけたんだけど、結構大きくなる前提で、
根っこが伸びても伸びても、余裕なように、
大きめな入れ物に、２本ずつだけ。

どうなるかな～楽しみだな～

雨水タンク、設置完了

ついに稼動し始めました、雨水タンク！！！

左の雨樋に、自作の取水口をとりつけて、ホースでつないでタンクに接続。あふれた雨はオーバーフローさせて、雨水溝に流れる仕組みにしました。ちょっとホースが不細工だけど、まぁ、素人の日曜大工なんで。。。

ちょっと角度を変えて撮ると、
なんだか迫力あるしｗ







ちょいと工夫したのはこの取水口。だって既製品買うと、安くても4000円とかするんよ。だから、ネットで自作してる人の色々調べまくって、真似して作ってみた。案外簡単に出来たのだ。どの位の割合で取水出来るんかな。雨が降るのが楽しみ～

なんか子供みたい。ぴっちぴっちちゃっぷちゃっぷらんらんらん☆

ほんでもって材料が余ってたから、 ２つ目もセッティングしちゃいました。こっちはちょっと手抜き仕事。蛇口すら取り付けてない、という（笑

まぁ、どのくらい貯まるのか楽しみだから、とりあえずは良いかな。

こっちも極力お金を掛けずに、ペットボトルを加工して、
ホースと口の大きさがあわないからテープで加工して、
材料費、ゼロｗ

週末は、そんなこんなで、ずっと日曜大工やってた～
明日は雨が降るようなので、たのしみだ！



ちなみに、遅くなりましたが。。。
雨水タンクをなぜやろうかと思ったか、というと。まずは、
①自然の恵みを排水溝に流しているのはもったいない！
②水道代を少しでも軽くするために、せめて洗車と水耕栽培はこの水で。
③非常時、水が止まった時でもこれでトイレが流せる！

という感じで、作ってみました。

D社 アレス青谷 に旅行

ゴールデンウィークに、鳥取に行ってきました～

鳥取と言えば、鳥取砂丘でしょう。
で、行ってみたらすんごいデカイ！広い！
人が蟻んこサイズになってしまうくらい、でっかーーーい！

でも、ほんとに人が小さく見えるでしょ？それだけ広いわけ。





さすがに、うちのカミサンも疲れたご様子でした（笑

あとは、一応弊社が協賛してる砂の美術館の宣伝も。。。
砂で作ったオブジェとかが展示してるみたい。
今回は時間がなかったので、観覧出来ませんでしたが。





 で、弊社の研修施設、アレス青谷の宿泊部屋はこんな感じ。
とーっても綺麗です。

最後には、玄関にある洒落たソファで記念撮影。２人とも目をつぶってますが。。。

帰る前には、青谷の町を古地図を見ながら散策。
１０箇所も回ってしまった。なんで頑張ったかというと、
チェックポイントを探して写真を撮ってくると、景品がもらえるから（笑
とても風情のある町並みがたくさん残っていて、
地元の方々もとても親切で、良い思い出になりました。



普通に地図を見ながら歩いてたら、
とある地元のおじいさんが、
「どこに行くんだい？」 と聞いてきてくれ、
聞いてもない場所まで説明してくれて？！
楽しかった（笑

つい１～２週間前に、新入社員がコマ地図やってたから、また若いのが来た。道を教えてやるか～って、思ってたのかな。


いずれにせよ、鳥取は良いとこですわ。
今度、うちにホームステイしに来る人のために、歩行ラリーを作ろうかと思ってます。
近所も知れるし、バス停や郵便局、コンビニの場所とかも、自分で歩いて回れたら、
便利だと思うしね。


あと、話は変わりますが、GW中にリビング大改造しました。
収納ラックを買って、ソファーを買って、IKEA製品が増えました。
毎日の様に日曜大工をやって、大忙し。
落ち着いたら写真アップしまーす。
